Mark Ashworth, who operates Ashworth ADR Solutions, specializes in the mediation and arbitration of civil litigated cases. He has decades of experience after having been admitted to the California State Bar in 1978. He has served as a settlement officer, mediator and arbitrator since 1987. Since then, collectively, he has mediated or arbitrated nearly 3,000 cases. Both the Plaintiff’s Bar and the Defense Bar recognize his skills.
With a robust educational foundation, Mr. Ashworth earned his degree from Brigham Young University in 1972 and completed his legal education at Western State College of Law in 1978. A member of the State Bar of California since 1978, he co-founded Smith & Ashworth and later organized Ashworth, Hayes & Moran, LLP. In 2006, the firm evolved into Ashworth & Ashworth, LLP, welcoming his daughter Carissa Ashworth-Johnson and later Michael Christopher Ashworth as partners. Over his 39-year career, Mr. Ashworth has litigated, mediated, and settled hundreds of cases while continuing to represent chiropractors, professionals, and small businesses.
Mr. Ashworth's litigation experience includes over 40 jury trials and 300 bench trials across California, spanning family law disputes, personal injury cases, and more. He has also litigated more than 200 cases through binding arbitration. As a Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers member, Mr. Ashworth leverages his trial knowledge to enhance mediation outcomes. He emphasizes empowering clients through the mediation process, which contrasts sharply with the unpredictable nature of trials. Acting as a mediator, he collaborates with attorneys to craft resolutions tailored to each case, ensuring a peaceful and efficient outcome.
As a graduate of the prestigious Straus Institute and a member of the California Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, Mr. Ashworth brings unmatched expertise to mediation. With decades of service as a Judge Pro Tem, Superior Court mediation panelist, and Court Discovery Referee, he has cultivated a client-focused approach. Since 1984, Mr. Ashworth has mediated complex civil litigated cases, blending facilitative and integrative bargaining techniques. His mediation style adapts to the nature of the dispute, incorporating directive approaches only when necessary.
